Several board members from AAF Columbus recently traveled to Chicago for ADMERICA–AAF’s national conference on advertising where our industry comes together for education, inspiration, innovation, collaboration, and celebration. We learn and discuss the latest developments in our industry—from new digital technologies to creative content development. We spend a significant amount of time with local chapter leaders from around the country and get insights and tips for local chapter operations, member development, programming and more. The event was educational, inspirational, and downright fun. The trip included a panel discussion, keynote speakers, and even a Cubs game.
Notes from the AAF Columbus attendees:
My favorite Learning Lab: How Data & AI Are Changing the Out-Of-Home Industry: Ian Dallimore, of Lamar, talked about how they are using data and other technologies to target audiences and customize campaigns. The company worked with Spotify to create the billboards that used first-party data to determine trending songs. The created headlines like “Dear person who played ‘Sorry’ 42 times on Valentine’s Day, What did you do?” on outdoor billboards.
Club Workshop: Club Management Roundtables: In this session, we rotated to tables with different topics (like speakers and events, committee engagement, membership, and using social media to engage members). At each table, we had 20 minutes to discuss best practices and find solutions to any issues chapters might be having. It was really inspiring to hear about the unique ideas or events other chapters have implemented – we definitely will be bringing that inspiration back to our Columbus chapter. It also felt great to be able to give other, smaller chapters advice on things that we have already mastered or found solutions to.
